Time to Join or Renew

Welcome to the Cove Neighborhood Association. A neighborhood action group that has been in service for over 40 years. We boast a membership of over 200 and are always looking for action minded individuals who care about their neighborhood and the people who reside there. We have been instrumental in saving our local parkland, neighborhood beautification, garbage pick-up, sidewalk construction, traffic concerns and general public safety. We live in a very special place, 3 public beaches, several pocket parks and the East Coast Greenway, which is a multi-purpose trail that runs the entire east coast from Florida to Maine.

Become involved in doing the most good. Join us.

If you haven't seen our new sign for Edson Park, stop by and take a look!

A little bit of history:

Gus Edson Park (also known as Gus Edson Lookout) in Stamford, CT, is named after Gus Edson (1901–1966), a popular American cartoonist.

Here are a few key facts about him and the park:

  • Cartoonist Career: Edson was famous for working on the comic strips The Gumps and Dondi.

  • Location: The park is located on Weed Avenue near Holly Pond in the Cove section of Stamford, on the border of Darien, near where he once lived.

  • "Friend of the Cop": A plaque in the park honors him as a "friend of the cop," a nod to his friendship with local police, who were his poker buddies, and his active involvement in community fundraising.

  • Significance: Edson was a notable member of a group of cartoonists who lived in the Stamford area during the mid-20th century.
